Apparel Design . Typography . Branding

After noticing themes of giving back between brands Butch Fairy, a gender non-conforming clothing brand with an LGBTQIA+ initiative, and Balanced Essentials, an organization dedicated to balancing the curve for folks in hygiene poverty, we decided to collaborate to devise a merchandise campaign with similar undertones.

Branding

The idea was to create branding that amplified the mission of “Balanced Essentials”, while maintaining consumer privacy. The brand icon recreates the idea of imperfect balance, while the brands use of primary colors evokes childhood feelings of curiosity and exploration.

Pay It No Mind.

The Pay It No Mind merchandise campaign dedicated to assisting LGBTQIA+ homeless youth. This campaign pays homage to pioneer and Black Trans Woman Marsha P. Johnson and consists of items designed to alleviate some of the hardships specific to homelessness.

User Testing

A survey was conducted on our Target Audience to understand how this community was best served and if it was a true need. This helped narrow down the apparel selection, as well as adopt methods such as Buy One Give One and Donation Drop-Offs / Pop-Ups .

Apparel Design

A cohesive apparel collection between Balanced Essentials and Butch Fairy was created in. Utilizing both brands iconography and color story this collection serves as function first, taking into consideration material and real world usage, while giving light and inspiration to the LGBTQIA+ community
